I attach MANY detailed pictures, inside, outside, sideways, etc. On my hand, with a coin, with the scale, with the measuring tape etc.
All gold is tested, all information imparted is factual. I don't sugar coat anything, I don't change or enlarge pictures but tell it how it is. Do NOT leave undeserved feedback because YOU glanced over the details or imagined something different too big, too small, too heavy, too light, not what I expected etc.
It's LITERALLY all in the description. For this listing and all others. Alloys with a higher gold content will have a color that is more saturated and yellow. In contrast, lower-karat alloys will look paler in comparison. 9k gold is NOT as yellow as 14k or 18k gold.
THE MONK + the RUBY! Antique Victorian carved BOVINE bone 9k gold stick tie pin. Please read the product parameters. And choose the jewelry that suits you to avoid unnecessary trouble. It's very simple: I block you IMMEDIATELY if you are disrespectful or just plain old silly! I kept the best for last - my last stick pin (for now) and THE BEST. A carved bovine cow bone monk sitting with "prayer beads" a small chain with a lovely colored ruby. This would also make an amazing charm / pendant. Can be converted to a charm/pendant by a competent jeweler (I currently do NOT offer this service). Stick pins are pins similar to small dressmaker pins, except that they are longer and often have quite ornamental tops to them. Scarf and Stick Pins have been popular for well over 200 years, dating back to the 18th century, where they were worn by gentlemen of the establishment. As they became more popular, they began being worn by both men and women, either on lapels, ties, or scarves.
The practice of wearing stickpins was first done as a practical measure. Much of the neck wear of the times was quite voluminous and stickpins were a way of keeping the tie in place, keeping the wearer warm, and even keeping food from getting down into the shirt of careless eaters! Era: Victorian around 1880 approx.A sitting monk carved out of bovine cow bone with a small gold chain and a lovely genuine ruby stone. Bovines are aplenty and the sale of items made out of bovine bone is not prohibited in any part of the world. The reverse side is plain (see pictures) and the bovine bone (as is customary when exposed to air is NOT a uniform color but has lovely shading). The ruby is attached with a chain and the chain moves (see pictures).
The pin is big, the carving is large and the ruby is lovely. The pin is one of a kind. NOT hallmarked (stamped) but tested (perfectly normal for an item of this age). 9 k gold is NOT as yellow /saturated as 14k or 18k gold. See info on alloys at the start of the listing. The ruby is genuine - it is very small. Total length of the pin is approx.
3.31 inches or 8.41 centimeters. Pin is long (see pictures on my hand and the monk is rather big) NOT a teeny tiny pin. The monk carving measures approx. 1.02 inches x 0.79 inches or 2.6 centimeters x 2 centimeters. The chain that dangles from the "hand" of the monk measures approx.Ruby 0.5 inches or 1.27 centimeters. Compare the measurements to an item you own FOR SCALE. Use a ruler or measuring tape to visualize the size properly. MORE ACCURATE THAN THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Please read the product parameters carefully and choose the jewelry that suits you to avoid unnecessary trouble. Compare the weight to an item you own. Weight and measurements are always approximate never absolute and taken to the best of my abilities.
If you cannot visualize 3 then I urge you to take out a measuring tape and check for yourself. The same goes for the weight. Compare the measurements and the weight to a pin you own.Gold, variations of bone color, dark pink ruby etc. 9k gold is not as yellow as 14k gold (see information on alloys above). (NOT limited to these colors just a sample). I give NO GUARANTEES how you might perceive the colors or how they might display on your screen.
Pictures were taken with an iphon in broad daylight on a sunny day in plain sunlight. No alterations were made, no pictures were enhanced, no pictures were photoshop-ed and no filters were used. I decline any and all responsibility as to how the colors display on your screen or how you interpret them. This is THE MOST important sentence in the listing. WHAT YOU SEE IN 12 PICTURES IS WHAT YOU'LL GET - NO MYSTERY NO TRICKERY!
Feature to enlarge the pictures. Pictures are part of the description. Compare the stated measurements and the weight to a charm you own. Literally, what you see is what you'll get and if you have a doubt, send me a message and I'll gladly help or take more pictures.
A LL MY SALES ARE FINAL. Kindly understand that it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to go over an item with a fine tooth comb and a magnifying glass and write down in minute detail every single flaw, scratch, fleck, etc.
My items are antique items, often over 140 years old and are of course not perfect. It is understood that antique items have wear, scratches, patina etc I do however, take a lot of time, my description is very lengthy and detailed (other sellers list 3 lines max). 140+ years old, was used, pre-loved and worn.
It is in good condition. Please double check the measurements and the weight. The ruby, the bone, the pin etc. Bone being from a living animal and not plastic has of course variations in color. Carving has a few dark nibs here and there hard to see so use the ZOOM feature. The pin can be converted into a pendant (I have done it many many times) by a competent jeweler. My most favorite charms are all converted pins. (in a very detailed, very lengthy text repeating over and over the specs). (12 clear pictures from ALL angles - pictures are part of the description).
(an ANTIQUE item over 140+ year with wear - wear is commensurate with age). AND ABSOLUTELY NO DISCUSSIONS AFTER THE SALE. This item is in the category "Jewelry & Watches\Vintage & Antique Jewelry\Brooches & Pins".
