Antique Vintage Deco Chinese Carved Agate 22 Prayer Bead Expandable Necklace

Main Stone Measurements/Color : The round beads measure 8 mm in diameter. The smallest polygonal bead measures 19 mm long by 10 mm wide, and the largest measures 27 mm long by 12 mm wide. They are a light and medium hunter green color with a red and brown spotted matrix. Stone Treatment : The stones appear to be untreated, but we are not certified gemologists and cannot be sure. Stone Cuts : Hand carved round and polygonal beads. Item Measurements : This necklace has an expandable wearable length of 16.0" to 25.0". This lovely strand of jade prayer beads was made during the Art Deco period by a talented Chinese stone cutter and jeweler. It features gorgeous light and medium hunter green hues of alternating polygonal and round agate beads. A gorgeous dotted red and brown matrix is visible on several of these stones. Tied together with cornflower blue silk string, this piece has been double knotted to increase durability and prevent friction rubbing when worn. The adjustable cord has a striking, gorgeous metallic gold, peach, yellow, and blue colored woven pattern. It has an expandable wearable length that is 16.0" long and adjusts to up to 25.0", and would make a great bead necklace in length. These beautiful prayer beads would make a great gift for a loved one. A few of the beads have very minor pitting. This is not uncommon for a piece this age, and does not affect the security or beauty of the piece. The price has been reduced to reflect this. This beautiful piece was made in the Art Deco Era! Chinese export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960's.
In a lot of ways, Chinese export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these periods, Chinese craftsmen, including jewelers and stone cutters, were considered by far the best in the world. The wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler. They drafted a design which was then sent to China to be crafted and sent back.

Chinese Stone cutters were considered some of the finest artisans in the world during the Vintage Era. They would carve western themes as well as the rarer traditional eastern themes into their many pieces.
