A Very Rare 18th Century Treen Finely Carved Injured Bird. Superbly Hand Carved from a Fruitwood it depicts an Injured Bird with one wing outstretched. Extremely well observed in every detail, it would have been made by a Master Carver of the period.
Over time it has obtained a wonderful rich patina to the wood and is very tactile. In good condition considering its age, the tip of the outstretched wing has been broken off at some. Stage and been re-attached and there are two slits/splits on the reverse which do not protrude to the front. (Please see photographs for condition). An amazing Bird Wood Carving which is totally Charming and deserves Museum inclusion! Size: 4.25" long x 4.25" high x 1.25 deep.
