Superb early Victorian walking stick / cane, made in England circa 1840. This is a very beautiful walking stick with a very finely carved handle in the form of a dog's head. The dog's head is finely carved in great detail with curling hair, open mouth with teeth and tongue as well as naturalistic glass eyes. The dog is wearing a wide collar with a buckle.The dog has wide and long ears and is possibly an English Setter. The cane has a silvered metal (possibly silver but unmarked) collar with chased leaves above a round malacca wood shaft. The walking stick is 3 inches / 76 mm wide and it is 34 inches / 863 mm tall. The walking stick is in excellent condition. It is strong and sturdy.
